Our Work
39 million people are blind globally and 285 million people are visually impaired. 90% of blind people live in developing countries but 80% of visual impairment is avoidable. The Trust is to join the worldwide movement to end avoidable blindness by 2020, fighting blinding diseases like Trachoma, Glaucoma and Diabetes across the Commonwealth.
Young people make up more than half of the Commonwealth’s population but they are often overlooked. Investing in young people’s potential is critical to addressing the challenges of the 21st century. Over the next year the Trust will work to design a programme that gives young people the opportunity to shape their own future, and that of their communities.
